South Sudan: Training on Transitional Justice
September 2025
In November 2024, South Sudan passed two important laws creating the Commission for Truth, Reconciliation and Healing (CTRH) and the Compensation and Reparation Authority (CRA), as provided for in the 2018 Peace Agreement (R-ARCSS). These institutions are intended to address past human rights violations, provide avenues for truth-telling, and support survivors through reparations. Implementation of the laws to make these bodies operational is needed, as is a law that establishes the Hybrid Court, also outlined in the Peace Agreement.
This training video (translated to both English and Arabic) introduces the main provisions of the CTRH and CRA Acts and explains what they could mean for affected communities if implemented, drawing on pictorial guides developed by Rights for Peace and Centre for Inclusive Governance Peace and Justice.
In partnership with the Centre for Inclusive Governance, Peace and Justice (CIGPJ).
Narrator: Jackline Nasiwa, Founder and Executive Director.
Supported by the Global Survivors Fund (GSF), the Government of the Netherlands, the Peace Building Fund, and the UN Development Programme (UNDP).
